Precision Machined Fabrications – Welded and Machined Assemblies

Getting it right the first time determines whether assemblies fit, seal, and perform as intended.

Combined Manufacturing

For over 45 years, Universal Fabrications has been a specialist engineering and manufacturing partner supporting defence, automotive, energy and industrial programmes. We deliver fabricated structures and precision machined components where both must work together.

As a single-source manufacturer, fabrication and machining are planned and delivered together, so when a part evolves, the process stays controlled. Our engineering and manufacturing specialists work as one team, remaining responsible from first cut through to finished part, with the ability to absorb design changes without resetting the supply chain.

This is exactly how we’ve supported EV battery enclosure programmes and vehicle-based projects, where welded aluminium structures are taken through to post-machined sealing faces.  In these precision machined fabrications, our role isn’t just to make the part, it’s to control distortion well enough that machining delivers a consistent seal. That only works when both processes are planned and owned together.

Our experience tells us that most issues don’t come from whether something can be made, they come from how many times responsibility for making it gets passed around. At Universal, we pride ourselves on being able to provide a full turnkey manufacturing solution to our customers.

Manufacturing Control

Our engineers and production specialists plan welding around the final features, select datums that survive fabrication, and design fixtures to control movement rather than just hold position. Machining is considered from the outset, so allowances, access, and sequencing support a repeatable result.

This approach sits behind parts where structure and precision both matter. Universal has a broad experience across vehicle chassis, EV battery enclosures, equipment frames, and housings with alignment or sealing requirements. These are typical of the defence, automotive, and energy sectors we support, where performance is defined not by a single process, but by how fabrication and machining work together.

Proven Capability

Complex machined fabrications are delivered within a single, controlled manufacturing environment. Manufacturing fabrications up to 10 tonnes and 10m in scale, alongside precision machined components up to 2700mm × 2000mm.

This combination allows projects to move from fabrication through to machining without leaving the business. We reduce reliance on external processes and maintain control as parts increase in complexity.
