Specialists in Aluminium Fabrications
Experts in Aluminium Fabrications & Precision Machined Components
As specialists in complex metal fabrications, Universal is an industry leader in welding aluminium. Whether you are looking to prototype a design or scale your production, Universal has the experience and capability to support you and your products. If you have an established product looking for scalable production, or a new project seeking early design input, get in touch as we would be glad to help.
Enhanced Capabilities for Manufacturing Custom Aluminium Fabrications
We can fabricate large assemblies up to 10m x 6m x 4m and work across using a 10 tonne crane with a dedicated assembly area.
With 22 size configurable welding bays we can support scalable production on mid to high volume batch runs.
As we have the full range of welding capabilities we can work with you to select the most appropriate welding solutions for your project requirements covering:
MIG, CMT, TIG, Spot, Projection, Laser and Robotic welding.
Fabricating from aluminium sheet and extrusion we are able to provide manufacturing and assembly support to a wide range of products including:
Operating to Industry Leading Aluminium Welding Standards
Our welders are test-accredited and operate to industry leading standards:
ISO 9606-2: Qualification Test of Welders – Fusion Welding – Part 2: Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys
This international standard specifies the requirements for welder qualification tests for aluminium and aluminium alloys. The certification ensures that the welder is capable of producing welds that meet specified standards under controlled conditions.
AWS D17.1M (Class B): Specification for Fusion Welding for Aerospace Applications
This standard, developed by the American Welding Society, provides specifications for fusion welding in the aerospace industry. Class B in this standard refers to welds that are structurally significant but not as critical as Class A. It covers materials including aluminium, titanium, and nickel alloys.
BS EN ISO 3834-2: Quality Requirements for Fusion Welding of Metallic Materials – Part 2: Comprehensive Quality Requirements
BS EN ISO 3834-2 is part of the ISO 3834 series, which provides comprehensive guidelines for the quality management of fusion welding of metallic materials. Specifically, Part 2 outlines the most stringent and comprehensive quality requirements for organisations involved in welding. This standard covers all aspects of the welding process, including the qualification of welders, welding procedures, material traceability, inspection, testing, and documentation. The goal of BS EN ISO 3834-2 is to ensure that welding activities meet the highest quality standards, minimising the risk of defects and ensuring the integrity of welded structures.
